Camp is critical step in this journey; thus, kids’ lives are dramatically influenced and will have an impact on future decisions by the quality of our volunteers. Christian leadership is a vital role that requires volunteers to help us translate God’s love for them. Our selection process reflects a commitment to our vision and values.

Summer Camp Volunteer Requirements
  • Must be able to commit to each day of camp for the camp session you are assigned: For Overnight Camp - 5 days - July 6-10 from 11 AM on July 6th to 1 PM on July 10th.
  • Must be 19 years of age by the start date of your camp.
  • Must complete the online volunteer application. We are still accepting applications at this time. Space is limited so please let us know of your interest by applying today.
  • Must attend the Leader Orientation (90 mins via Zoom) and All Leader Training (3 hrs in Oakland) session to prepare for your experience working at camp. Dates will be posted in February.
  • Must complete the self-paced online training modules prior to the above LIVE training session. Requires 2-3 hours total.
  • Must clear a background check
  • Must comply with the following statements:
    • TYM camp is a drug-free, alcohol-free, smoking-free camp. No exceptions.
    • I will value appropriate behavior that includes the words I say, what I wear, and how I conduct myself around campers.
  • Must plan to participate in our annual Walk-4-Their Future as a peer-2-peer fundraiser. You will be given access to a personalized web page where you can set your own fundraising goal. While every dollar each of us raises helps TYM bring more children to camp, your participation is primarily about sharing your camp role with family & friends in an effort to "spread the word" about TYM's commitment to caring for underserved kids. We trust God to move hearts and motivate people to give -- our role is simply to share how I am helping with camp leadership and invite them to consider a gift of any amount. The good news is, the process is really easy and fun, our team will walk you through every step of the way and we'll be doing it together. :- )
