Barry has been with TYM since 2008, when he first joined TYM's founder, Marilyn Siden, to support the ministry as a part-time fundraiser. In those first years, Marilyn wisely observed that Barry had more enthusiasm and passion when working directly with the kids, parents, and leaders. He deeply appreciates being able to be a catalyst in kids' lives and introduce them to the One who transforms hearts and lives.
The town of Danville, in the East Bay, is where his family moved when he was in 5th grade. Barry had the blessing of committed youth pastors and youth workers throughout his middle- and high school years who discipled him and poured into his spiritual formation. The summers during his University years were dedicated to working in camp ministry with Sonshine Ministries on the Delta near Stockton/Lodi. During six summers with Sonshine, he had the opportunity to explore several leadership roles and began to wonder what a career in youth ministry might look like. His careers have included Recruiter, Youth Development Executive Director, Team Development Consultant, Software Sales to charitable organizations, Financial Adviser, followed by wearing several hats with TYM.
Barry and his wife Christy have been married for nearly three decades and have two adult children, Trevor and Shayla, and a bonus son-in-law, Nick. They love that their "kids" still like hanging out with them, and they enjoy planning and spending time on outdoor adventures like exploring waterfalls in Oregon and not-yet-visited national parks. They live in the quaint coastal town of Santa Cruz, enjoying the gift of majestic redwood forests and beaches just ten minutes from home. They also enjoy serving on their church's Global Missions Team and sneaking in pickleball games whenever possible.
